Lead Teacher

The preschool teacher selected for this position is responsible for the general supervision, instruction, and management of the class.

Qualifications | Responsiblities

Qualifications

  • An active member of a Christian congregation.
  • Must hold a four-year college degree or have a minimum of 3 years of experience in education/care of young children.
  • Must be certified in CPR/First Aid or obtain certification within 6 months.
  • Must meet the minimum standards for Staff as printed in the Minimum Standards and Guidelines for Day Care Centers. (see page72, section 746.1105, attached)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current early childhood development theory and practices.
  • Knowledge of how young children learn and develop.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures of the state of Texas and of Lamb of God Lutheran Church.
  • Ability to relate to young children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience.
  • Ability to show competence, good judgment and self-control in working with children.
  • Ability to see each child as unique and provide curriculum to meet individual needs of children in the classroom.
  • Ability to share your faith and grow spiritually through prayer, devotion, church involvement, and service in the teaching field.
  • Ability to actively participate in planned activities of the school.
  • Ability to attend to children’s needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with children and adults.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be a Christian example to children and families.
  • Provide undivided supervision to the class and remain with them at all times.
  • Provide a Christian classroom environment, which enhances learning and faith development.
  • Prepare age-appropriate activities according to the curriculum objectives, preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Read and understand the Minimum Standards and Guidelines for Day Care Centers.
  • Be responsible for the arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom.
  • See each child as an individual and help him/her to grow socially, mentally, and spiritually.
  • Communicate as needed with parents of assigned children. Meet with parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences. Complete progress reports and portfolio for each student.
  • Submit weekly lesson plan to the Director (Wednesday prior to the week of instruction).
  • Notify the Director of injuries, illness or suspected abuse of a child, completing an incident or accident report on any unusual event within the same day. Suspected abuse must also be reported to the Child Abuse Hotline.
  • Leave the classroom clean and in order at the end of class.
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to class to get personal needs completed to enable arrival in the room at the exact time class begins. After class dismisses, follow licensing sanitation procedures, prepare the room for the next class, and be available for parents as needed.
  • Attend all staff/team meetings as scheduled. The Director must clear any absence from a meeting.
  • Attain 24 in-service hours annually (excluding CPR/First Aid).
  • Supervise teacher assistant if one is assigned to you.
  • Serve as faculty liaison to a minimum of one subcommittee.
  • Lead Chapel services as needed (minimum once per year).
  • Be evaluated by the Director annually.
  • Attend a minimum of two worship services at Lamb of God Lutheran Church (Teacher Installation and National Lutheran Schools Week).
  • Carry out any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Director.

Assistant Teacher

The assistant teacher selected for this position is responsible for assisting the lead teacher with general supervision and the daily activities of a class.

Qualifications | Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • An active member of a Christian congregation.
  • Must meet two of the following criteria: high school diploma, GED, college classes in education or a related field, 1-year experience in an education-related field.
  • Must be certified in CPR/First Aid or obtain certification within 6 months.
  • Must meet the minimum standards for Staff as printed in the Minimum Standards and Guidelines for Day Care Centers. (see page72, section 746.1105, attached)
  • An active member of a Christian congregation.

  • Assist lead teacher(s) in the supervision of children.
  • Supervise classroom and playground activities as assigned.
  • Notify the Director of injuries, illness or suspected abuse of a child, completing an incident or accident report on any unusual event within the same day. Suspected abuse must also be reported to the Child Abuse Hotline.

  • Work closely with the lead teacher you are assigned to work with.
  • Leave the classroom clean and in order at the end of class.
  • Attend a minimum of two worship services at Lamb of God Lutheran Church (Teacher Installation and National Lutheran Schools Week).
  • Carry out any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Director.

Substitue Teacher

The substitute teacher selected for this position is responsible for the general supervision, instruction, assistance, and management of a class on a temporary basis.

Qualifications | Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years' experience in education/care of young children.
  • An active member of a Christian congregation.
  • CPR/First Aid certificated.
  • Must observe Lamb of God Preschool classrooms at each age level (approximately 2 hours).

  • Ability to relate to young children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience.

  • Ability to share your faith and grow spiritually through prayer, devotion, church involvement, and service in the teaching field.
  • Ability to follow the daily plans and routines as oulined by the absent teacher.
  • Ability to attend to children’s needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally with children.

  • Give undivided supervision to the class and remain with them.
